An Iraqi national charity worker has been taken hostage in Iraq and her future in uncertain, blair has been quoted as saying "we must do all we can to secure her release"
hmm 1 wonders why he saw fit to do feck all for Ken Bigley and slept soundly at night while that man awaited execution!
..............................................................
The blatant hypocrisy and double standards of this eejit are beyond my understanding, anyone with an ounce of sense and compassion would hope that the 30yrs Mrs Hassan has spent helping the people of Iraq, may help her case because you can rest assured {as blair does every night} that his empty words will certainly be of no use to her.
Goblin, for once we might be in slight disagreement as I don't myself think that Tony Blair could have done anymore than he and the government did to secure the release of Ken Bigley. the Irish government also had a hand in trying to secure his release, and hats of to them for that. I do agree, though, that Blair resting easy at night is one of the most ridiculous concepts known to western man. Not only has he broken domestic promises, but there's the poor people of Zimbabwe being ruined by that dictator Mugabe, whom he promised to help, and there are people Like Margaret Hassan who have been put in this terrible position by the aggressive tactics of the ally he supports in Baghdad. Remove him from office, voters of Britain!
i see your point but i still felt like throwing a heavy object at the tv when i heard his reaction,
i have a feeling he's in for a fright but the alternative will not go down well in Scotland.
Anyone with the tiniest shred of intelligence would know that there was absolutely nothing more Tony Blair could have done for Ken Bigley. I think you should be directing your anger at the insane behaviour of terrorists who see fit to behead innocent people on video in a vain attempt to further their cause. They are the perpetrators of this vile abuse. And if the voters of Britain are foolish enought to vote Conservative next election then we'll see what kind of a bloody mess they make of this country.
see ya

Well, Tony Blair must have realized that his invasion would cost lives, whether it's the lives of soldiers or innocent Iraqi cevilians, terrorists or hostages who were there only trying to help feed the poor. That's what the invasion intailed and he got into it knowing this, so I can't see him being overly surprised by the latest actions.
Well, terrorists vs freedom fighters .. interesting concepts, .. why are the Israeli army e.g. not terrorists when they fire missles at Palestinian cars killing who they claim to be militants without any further proof or hearing, not only thos but innocent by-standers, as young as 14 and as old as 82 and wheel-chair bound. Why is the beheading of a British guy more of a terrorist act then killing of a 14-year-old Palestinian school girl.
I just hate how the word terrorist is used whenever any opinions come up that are contrary ro the US/UK policy, liike that is the word that justifies all actiona, no matter how many lives are sacrificed (especially if it's the lives of the "enemy" innocent or not).
I'd hope that there are people who value the human life and diplomacy a little more than the current governments .. it remains to be seen and whehter those people will get a chance.

Wildebrew i have always seen the Israeli army as terrorists as they roll over the belly of Palestine like Rommels panzer division!.{im not angry at you but at the injustice and futility of war,however Arafat has repeatedly turned down offers of talks and offers of compromise with Israel,so is he any better for exacerbating the situation}
............................................................
Anyone who invades a country already financially and personally on its knees could be considered a terrorist,in my book bush & his poodle blair are no better than that. They knowingly & self righteously created this mess and thanks to an inept president, and his incompetant untrained and out of control army, The SCOTS now have to go in and save the yanks from yet another embarrassing cock up.
Hear hear! no further questions! Goblin, you are quite right once again. The reason that the Israelies aren't considered terrorists is because, for the moment, the American government likes them. that seems to be the blanket justification for their not being terrorists. AS for the Black Watch, what correspondents stateside won't be able to appreciate is the sheer disgust with which Blair's actions, along with those of defence secreetary Geoff Hoom, in welcoming the Black watch home with a merger and the demise of hundreds of years of history, is being regarded by most decent people. And finally, am I the only one who's still banging the drum about Zimbabwe? Come on, Tony, keep your promise to the people of Zimbabwe and sort the bloody mess out!
Cheers pal are you buying.
Eh hmm I'm disgusted by the continuing support for this crowd of supremists i heard this remark and at 1st it replused me because i have Jewish friends.
............................................................
However "it was this If the holocaust had never happened the Jews would never have had a "legitimate" excuse to trample over Palestine like the German army". The holocaust is used by these eejits who are mostly 3rd or 4th generation Jews who have no idea of the holocaust except what their parents have told them,im not saying every Israeli is a modern day Nazi a lot of them want peace, but Arafat and Sharon are dead set on war.
As for The Black Watch those fearless highly trained and predominately Scottish troops, deserve our wholehearted support and i bloody well hope the MP's see sense and leave this illustrous regiment intact!.
I entirely agree with you guys. I think the Israelis are nothing but terrorists and I sympathize with the Palestinian side and I think the Palestinian killing of Israeli solderis is just as justified as the targetted "militants" killing .. so tqrgetted that they usually kill about 1 to 2 innocent cevilians for every "militant" they get .. and they are judged to be militants without any trial or legal procedure mind you. If Sharon pushes through with the disengagement plan I'll give him some credit for at least taking some action that might, in the future, lead towards piece but I have very little faith in him actually going through with his promises.
I have Jewish friends too and even some of them are upset by the aggression and total disregard for human life that Israel and its army are showing.
Wildebrew.
Sharon is a monster who wants nothing more than the total annexation of Palestine this is only a token gesture. As for the suicide bombers no i cant condone their insanity and the fact that you see that as legit bothers me greatly..........their actions solve nothing and only serve to keep the Israeli-Palestinian crisis at boiling point...These suicide bombers hide in Palestinian homes which the Israelis then drive over literally looking for these fanatics so i ask you who is right?.
Let me just say at the outset that all suicide bombers should be roundly condemned, as they do keep the crisis at boiling point, just like Goblin says. The problem with the arab-israeli conflict is that both sides, over a period of time, are as bad as each other. And why is that? It's because of the fanatical support that both have for their religions, and it's the same sort of nonsense that tore Northern Ireland apart in the past, albeit with slightly different circumstances.
Absolutely i can partly understand these extremists and their fanatical devotion, however the true nature of Islam has been corrupted beyond recognition by the PLO and their acolytes a real Muslim would struggle comprehend their twisted ideology
A Muslim is forbidden from commiting a violent act against another human being be they a muslim or an atheist
The PLO Al Qaeda and Al Jazeera in Iraq are an insult to the true meaning of Islam and i cannot believe the muslim people of either country want this senseless killing to continue
Well, let me clarify. I do not condone or understand the suicide bombers. I do not condone anyone that risks killing civilians. Those are normal people trying to go about their lives and have nothing to do with the conflict at hand. That being said, and my point, is that I do not think the suicide bombers are any more condemnable than the pilot of a fighter plane with rockets firing them at a car that, supposedly, holds "militants". If the cars always did really hold militants who were planning to kill civilians, yes, that would be a justifiable action but what if the car is the militants family or what if innocent by-standers get killed, or what if what one side refers to as "militants" are simply guys who organize protests against the situation, my point is that "targetted killings" are a form of juidicial system that is dangerous at best and do nothing to solve the problem at hand. And I too often feel the only distinction between a terrorist and a freedom fighter in today's world is whether they are allies of the U.S. or not, no matter where they are in the world. This is wrong, the U.S. is as much a terrorist country as anyone if they invade Iraq, kill tens of thousands of civilians, justify it with what has proven to be lies and keep breaking more and more cluases of the Geneva convention, using torture and extradition to obtain information from prisoners, and at the same time claim they can set the moral standards of the world and they are above any criticism. This is what really bothers me about the whole situation.
